Acknowledge the elephant in the room.

Try: "I know you didn't ask for coaching, and I imagine having someone come into your classroom isn't what you wanted. I want to be useful to you, not a burden. What would make this worth your time?"

Why: Pretending the resistance doesn't exist makes it worse. Naming it respectfully opens dialogue.
