Model Problem Solving

Model Problem Solving

Front: Problem solving is a skill that needs to be taught and developed. Coaches need to expose teachers to explicit problem-solving strategies in the context of CT and CS.

Back: Explicitly teach problem-solving skills to students during CS instruction. Consider leveraging CT strategies to scaffold problem solving. Model the strategies using think alouds. Work through problem-solving examples collaboratively with a group of students. Help students identify where in a lesson they may need to use different approaches. Create anchor charts that list different strategies or outline the steps of specific approaches.
