Hands Behind Back

Front: When teachers touch student work by editing their code, taking control of their keyboard, writing on their work, or even physically leaning into their workspace students tend to back away from ownership of their work.

Back: Teachers should form a habit of clasping their hands behind their back when they observe students during worktime so as not to touch student work. Teachers can also instruct students to use this strategy when they are providing peer assistance or participating in pair programming. Guidelines like "Only the programmer touches their own keyboard and mouse" can support this idea.
