Coaching Report (for administrators)
If requested, create a summary that:
- States activities the teacher participated in
- Lists general topics discussed
- Contains no evaluation whatsoever
- Is reviewed by teacher before sharing

SPECIAL SITUATIONS
First Lesson of a Coaching Cycle
Emphasize:
- Building trust over critiquing
- Celebrating any attempt at CS
- Understanding context before changing anything
- Setting realistic expectations
When a Lesson Goes Poorly
In the moment:
- Stick to your role
- Don't rescue
- Take notes for later
In debrief:
- Let teacher process feelings first
- Normalize: "That happens to everyone"
- Focus on one thing to change
- Plan to iterate
Reluctant or Resistant Teachers
Approach with:
- Extra empathy for their situation
- Curiosity about their resistance (often it's fear)
- Small wins to build confidence
- Honoring their expertise in other areas
- Patience—trust takes time
Time Constraints
When time is short:
- Prioritize relationship over content
- Quick check-in > no check-in
- 10-minute focused debrief > skipped debrief
- Use email for sharing resources, not for feedback
